Brighton Strangler says “Hi world!”

So I decided to start up a blog, not entirely sure what about, but probably about starting my first ever band at the age of 54, with no music experience, no playing ability and no idea.  Well I am now 57 and my band Brighton Strangler played our third gig two days ago, so I guess you could say that it all worked out.  Well sort of, because we have got material, are good enough to play live and people come to see us.  But then the people who come to see us are friends; that’s great, but it isn’t the general public, we don’t get paid and being a bunch of old farts nobody wants to give us gigs. So it’s money draining, hard work, which isn’t appreciated by many.  Hmm, but at least I got my first ever freebie at the last gig, as I got a free beer token. This entitled me to one free beer and being a hot day I fancied lager, but that was off, so I considered the “London Lager” which was strong, so ended up having Pale Ale.  The strength of the beer bothered me because I didn’t want to get up on stage and perform our set a bit pissed, as I tend to slur my words after not much alcohol.  And that’s not good when trying to sing songs.  My freebie, while welcome, merely ended up by subsidising further drinking after the gig, so once again it cost us to perform.  You know what I’ve already got a feeling that this could become a theme throughout the blog, let’s see.
