Latest Bar and Steve’s Arm

Latest Bar and Steve’s Arm

Sorry not to have written for a while, Christmas, families all that stuff sort of got in the way.  Then I just sort of lost momentum and everything ground to a halt.  But now I’m back, and I can tell you what Brighton Strangler have been up to.  At the start of December we played the Latest Bar supported by POG and Jimmy and the Worn Out Shoes.  Great gig, about fifty of you wonderful people turned up to see us.  Great fun, people dancing and we tried two new songs; Wise Guys and Dancing Outrageous.  They both went down well; I think that Wise Guys might be our pop hit, while Dancing Outrageous is just good old punk pop fun.  It’s a great song and already seems to be a crowd favourite.  For our encore we played 90 Miles which is getting better and better and Transmission.  We thought we could play the classic Joy Division song, but ballsed it up a bit. Not too much of a problem, as I was able to trash the microphone stand and so draw attention away from the fact that we were making a complete mess of the song.  Anyway we only did a cover because people told us we should.  Think we’ll stick to our own songs in the future.  And then there is Steve’s arm; he hadn’t told us that he fell off his bike while pissed two days earlier, and had damaged his shoulder.  But full marks he played the set, in spite of the pain and the fact that he hadn’t yet been for a check up. And while we’re talking about Steve I thought he played an excellent set for his first ever live gig.  I think he might even have surprised a number of his friends, who had probably turned out to see a car crash.  Jimmy and the Worn Out Shoes and POG were both great as alway.  It’s always fun to play with your friends, and trust between the bands goes a long way to ensuring that things run smoothly.

On the writing, I only managed to write 13,000 words for National Novel Writing Month, I was supposed to do 50,000, so a bit of a fail.  Still that’s 13,000 more than I had written at the start of the month and my fourth novel is now underway.
