What do you put in a blog? Well I guess we’ll learn that as I go along, but I suppose there should be news, as well as reflections. So our next gig is at the Brunswick Tavern on Saturday 9 June. Brighton Strangler are an indie punk band, and we will be first on, followed by a funk band doing covers and then a DJ set probably playing disco and soul. Brighton Strangler says “Hi world!”
So I decided to start up a blog, not entirely sure what about, but probably about starting my first ever band at the age of 54, with no music experience, no playing ability and no idea. Well I am now 57 and my band Brighton Strangler played our third gig two days ago, so I guess you could say that it all worked out. Well sort of, because we have got material, are good enough to play live and people come to see us. But then the people who come to see us are friends; that’s great, but it isn’t the general public, we don’t get paid and being a bunch of old farts nobody wants to give us gigs.…
